We’re all in this together - The importance of supporting local businesses
Another company shuts shop. 100,000s unemployed. You only have to look at the news or social media to see how Covid-19 has affected businesses in the UK. The pandemic has had a disastrous impact on the hospitality industry, businesses with large overheads that cannot afford to run without full capacity. Local businesses, from small cafes who rely on workplace trade, to bigger independent restaurants, have all been hit particularly hard. The lack of footfall combined with often large rents and without investment backing that the chain conglomerates have often mean that for many, Covid-19 has caused them to fold.
It is with the continued support and love from the residents in the Kensal Rise and Hammersmith communities that Cable Co Coffee has been able to weather the storm, keeping our lovely staff employed and making top notch coffee for all of our customers. We adapted with each change of the Government advice, creating coffee on the go, for people to pick up their drinks without coming inside. Masks are now compulsory when ordering inside our stores and we have been providing hand sanitizer throughout. We pride ourselves on Cable Co being a Covid safe venue for our customers.
Shout out to the familiar faces
The great aspect of being a local business is meeting you! We love our regulars. From nattering over oat-milk lattes to grabbing a croissant on the go, seeing the same faces pop by makes our day. And it’s only with your continued support that we have been one of the local businesses that haven’t had to close its doors during 2020. So thank you.
But we urge you, from your local greengrocers to that small restaurant down the road, to keep visiting your independently-run hospitality venues. Most are often family-run and even before Covid-19, many neighbourhoods have seen local businesses being bought out by huge, corporate chains. The more this happens, the more the personality of a borough gets weakened - the local businesses are often the hub of a community, working together to look out for one another.
Let’s keep supporting hospitality in 2021. We’re all in this together.
